Opening Prayer

For the Council of the Clergy

Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Savior, we come before You acknowledging our unworthiness to be called Your servants—acknowledging that as You Alone are Life, so You Alone are Priest. We pray that we may be inspired and led by Your priestly Love, the source of all genuine doctrine and life of Your Church, the New Hierosolyma.

We thank you for imparting to Your Church the insight of the way to the Unveiling of the Celestial Holy of Holies. Our merely earthly feeling and thinking is entirely opposed to the power and glory of the inner sense of Your New Word—as our mere earthly reasoning is opposed to genuine doctrine, and as our mere earthly pleasures are opposed to heavenly delight.

Genuine doctrine and heavenly delight are the gifts of Your Divine Humanity, and cannot be expressed in earthly terms—any more than the sensations of the astronaut can be communicated to those who have never been in space: for those enveloped or veiled in the earthly atmosphere have no idea of the glories of the universe as they may be sensed hundreds of miles above the earth’s surface.

We who would serve You as priests pray this day anew to be granted the love and the light to convey to Your people Your messages from behind the veil of the new Revelation, and to follow You, now resurrected into Glory:

‘Arise, O Lord, into Your resting place. You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priests be clothed with justice, and let Your saints shout for joy ... for the Lord has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His habitation: This is My resting place forever: here I will dwell, for I have desired it.” (Ps. 132).

For Zion’s sake I will not be silent, and for Hierosolyma’s sake I will not rest, Until her justice go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns.” (Is. 62:1).

Amen.
