The Greeters list at the NewEarth BBS 11-July-96 This mailing list is for people interested in the teachings of the New Church given in the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, interested in sharing those teachings with others, and in sharing your life experience in using them. This list is primarily for serving newcomers, who will not be familiar with Swedenborgian jargon or with the assumptions and culture of our various organizations. If you join this list, you become a "Greeter" for the NewEarth network community, and will receive mail from newcomers with questions about the church and about Swedenborg. You need to understand the operation of three addresses. questions@newearth.org When people send mail to 'questions' they will get an automatic response acknowledging the e-mail, and the mail will also be forwarded to everyone on the Greeters list. 'swedenborg-info' and 'question' are other aliases for this address. 'questions@newearth.org' will be used on NewEarth web pages and in other forms of advertising. You are also welcome to use it. questions2@newearth.org Mail to this address will also go to the people on the Greeters list, but without generating an automatic response. If you reply to a question and want to share your reply with the others in the Greeters group, send a Cc: to questions2@newearth.org. greeters@newearth.org This is an ordinary discussion list. Mail to 'greeters' will go to the people on the Greeters list, and replies will go back to that list. Use this address to discuss something with the other Greeters. People who write to 'questions' will be invited to join the 'Seekers' list. Using greeters
To post a message to all the list members, send email to greeters@lists.newearth.org. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to greeters
Subscribe to greeters by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
